Located next to the charming town of Cellai and just a 25-minute ride from the city of Florence you will find Villa La Chiocciola, nested in a splendid property of woods and farmland surrounded by the tuscan hills.

Villa La Chiocciola was, for a long time, the property of the Altoviti Family, a prominent noble family of Florence and was subsequently purchased by Gaetano Casoni, a distinguished Florentine lawyer, businessman and grandfather of the proprietor. Since then, the estate has remained in the family for nearly a century and has been transformed from a Tuscan farmhouse into an extraordinary villa crowned by terracotta statues.

The Villa currently has three residences (or apartments) within its main structure, two of which are available for rental, the Giulia & Granaio residences,  while the other remains as a family vacation home. All three residences were partly refurbished by the proprietors with the intention of combining nature and artfulness. The apartments’ terracotta flooring, wooden-beamed ceilings, and antique kitchen details add a rustic charm and warmth to them, whereas the moderately eclectic room decor combining local objects with ethnic elements that form a part of the family’s memories elicit tradition.

While the original structure of the estate dates back to the 16th and 18th century, it has recently undergone a profound renovation led by the current proprietors from 2015 to 2018. The external structure has been mildly retouched to accentuate the Villa’s splendor, while the interior decor has been refreshed to embody the spirit of the Tuscan countryside, with a contemporary touch to reflect the family’s style and taste. Both the living rooms and bedrooms are filled with eclectic assortment of furniture, books, and objets d’art; such harmonious order allows for a certain degree of natural spontaneity. What one of the proprietors, and architect has brought into the home from her experience on the field, is the pleasure of keeping things simple.
